Media reports show that there has been a significant train derailment in a residential area in Van Buren, Michigan. Authorities were in the area to investigate the circumstances and determine if there was any danger for the people living there.

As of early Thursday afternoon, reports were that there were no immediate concerns.

Local Detroit 4 posted aerial footage from Van Buren showing at least six cars off the tracks and in a state of chaos.

CBS posted a very confusing update at 10:55 AM that read: “According to the Van Buren Township Police Department, there is evidence of exposed hazardous materials, and none of the train cars containing hazardous materials were compromised in the incident.”

WXYZ reported the following, with more details about the hazardous:

Fire crews are on the scene of a train derailment just outside of Detroit this morning.

The Van Buren Township Fire Department confirms that a train derailed.

Chopper video shows at least six cars off the track.

Officials say only one car in the train was carrying hazardous materials, which is reportedly showing no sign of leaking or damage.

The fire department says the derailment is causing traffic issues but poses no danger to the public at this time.

This comes after earlier this month, a train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, releasing hazardous chemicals into the air and is still leading to health concerns in the area.

Numerous people online posted that they feel suspicious about trains derailing as if there was a larger danger behind the Michigan trainwreck after an Ohio derailment has turned to disaster and highlighted how out of touch, lazy, slow, and unconcerned the Federal government is when Americans really need assistance.

CNN reported an update on the Ohio derailment, on Thursday:

Nearly two weeks after a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials derailed in the eastern Ohio village of East Palestine and sparked a massive dayslong blaze, residents packed a high school gym Wednesday for a meeting with officials all demanding the same thing: answers.

An odor of chlorine has lingered long after the February 3 derailment that prompted crews to manage detonations to release vinyl chloride, which can kill quickly at high levels and increase cancer risk. And although an evacuation order was lifted last week, some residents are staying elsewhere amid fears the water, air, soil and surfaces in the village of 5,000 still are not safe.

So residents packed the gym’s bleachers for Wednesday’s community meeting – after forming a line wrapped around the block before doors opened.

“Is it OK to still be here? Are my kids safe? Are the people safe? Is the future of this community safe?” resident Lenny Glavan, who was at the meeting, told reporters on Wednesday.

The event hosted by East Palestine officials was supposed to include officials from Norfolk Southern. But the company, which said it had hoped to provide updates on cleanup efforts and results from air and water tests, backed out earlier in the day, saying it was concerned about a “growing physical threat to our employees and members of the community around this event,” stemming from its belief that “outside parties” would participate.

Instead, local leaders took questions from emotional residents who expressed distrust of officials’ accounts and anger – including at the transport company’s decision to skip the event.

“Where’s Norfolk Southern?” some yelled at the meeting.

The reaction on social media is one of frustration for the people in the affected area.

Mainstream-corporate media has just picked the story up in the last few days. Independent media has been covering the situation for much longer.

The Rebel News was on the scene to cover the immediate aftermath of the derailment:

At a local Ohio township meeting, residents who are impacted by a massive derailment in their area, which caused harmful toxic, and damaging explosions, exploded at the lack of answers they were given there.

Fearful and frustrated in a packed Gym, residents chanted, yelled, and pleaded for more information than anyone would be provided- and they demanded to know where Democrat Pete Buttigieg was, who had been Missing In Action – apparently aloof from the problems the working class citizens were having.
