Late on Saturday night, authorities said, a car struck an outside perimeter gate of the White House complex, killing the driver. The White House was not under danger, according to the Secret Service, and President Biden was enjoying a weekend getaway in Delaware at the time of the incident.

The male driver, who has not been named, was discovered dead inside the car after the collision just before 10:30 p.m., the Secret Service said. The event is presently being looked at as a possible traffic collision.

At the junction of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, the car struck a security barrier, according to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. When police arrived at the scene at 10:46 p.m., they reported that one adult male had already been declared deceased.

Following the collision, the Secret Service promptly triggered security procedures; however, the organization has verified that the White House was not in danger. The D.C. Metro Police and the Secret Service will keep looking into this.

The car crash that happened on Saturday is not the first occasion in recent months that a car has crashed into the White House boundary. When a car crashed into an external White House fence back in January, the driver was arrested.

Similar to what happened on Saturday, President Biden was not present at the White House when the collision occurred.

A Delaware man was accused of driving under the influence a month prior after colliding with President Biden’s convoy. As Secret Service agents flocked the car, a startled President Biden was seen staring forward.

The Delaware incident resulted in no injuries.
