US Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the US House Oversight Committee, has had success where few other people have gone with the FBI, and over the past day, he has forced them to do the right thing for the American people.
We are hoping what happened on Capitol Hill this week is the beginning of a new pattern of behavior by our civil servants who have remained steadfast in demanding transparency in their investigations into the corrupt business dealings of Democrat Joe Biden.
On Wednesday, the Oversight Committee released a press statement showing their intentions were serious in their intent to hold FBI Director, Christopher Wray accountable:
“We have been clear that the FBI must produce the unclassified FD-1023 record to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability custody. To date, the FBI has refused to comply with our lawfully issued subpoena and even refused to admit the record’s existence until a week ago.
Once Director Wray confirmed the record’s existence, the FBI started their coverup by leaking a false narrative to the media. The case is not closed as the White House, Democrats, and the FBI would have the American people believe.
The FBI created this record based on information from a credible informant who has worked with the FBI for over a decade and paid six figures. The informant had first-hand conversations with the foreign national who claimed to have bribed then-Vice President Biden. And now, Attorney General Barr has confirmed that the record was given to the U.S. Attorney in Delaware for the purpose of that investigation,” said Chairman Comer.
“Americans have lost trust in the FBI’s ability to enforce the law impartially and demand answers, transparency, and accountability. The Oversight Committee must follow the facts for the American people and ensure the federal government is held accountable.”
On Thursday, Wray folded and gave in.
Just The News reported on the details writing that the FBI caved to congressional pressure Wednesday night on the eve of a contempt vote, agreeing to let all members of the House Oversight Committee to see an informant memo alleging Joe Biden was involved in a $5 million bribery scheme as well as some related documents.
Wray made a deal with Comer to drop the contempt vote because he would face legal problems he didn’t want to deal with.
The Wray-Comer deal was announced just hours before a panel voted to find FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt, running out the clock after weeks of stalling.
“After weeks of refusing to even admit the FD-1023 record exists, the FBI has caved and is now allowing all members of the Oversight and Accountability Committee to review this unclassified record that memorializes a confidential human source’s conversations with a foreign national who claimed to have bribed then-Vice President Joe Biden,” Comer said.
Just the News went on in their report of the situation:
“At issue is a document known as an FD-1023 containing allegations from a confidential informant in June 2020 that Joe Biden as vice president traded US policy for money to his family. The committee now will also be able to see two earlier documents from the same informant related to the allegation.”
“Let’s be clear: the allegations contained within this record are not closed as the White House and Democrats would have the American people believe,” he said. “Former Attorney General Barr confirmed this information was sent to the U.S. Attorney in Delaware for further investigation, and the FBI has confirmed it is being used in an ongoing investigation.
“We also know the confidential human source who provided this information is highly credible and trusted, has worked with the FBI for over a decade, and has been paid six figures,” Comer told media.
So Wray is off the hook.
“As a result of FBI Director Christopher Wray’s change of heart – after weeks of refusing to hand over a physical copy of the FD-1023 form to the committee – he will no longer be subjected to a contempt of Congress hearing that was slated for Thursday,” according to the New York Post.
And the Committee gets to see what they want to see.
The panel announced that the FBI is also making two additional documents referenced in the informant file available for Comer (R-Ky.) and House Oversight Committee ranking member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) to review.
The details of that bribe have been hidden from the public, and the FBI has known about them for a long time.
The New York Post’s report went on to describe Comer’s reaction to the document saying that he had already viewed the document and described the claims in it- earlier this week as “consistent with what we found and disclosed to you all in Romania.
It suggests a pattern of bribery where payments would be made through shell accounts and multiple banks,” adding that the information in the file came from a “highly credible informant” who has been “part of the bureau for 13 years, dating back to the Obama administration” and has been paid a “substantial amount of money” by the FBI for his work over the years.
The Oversight Committee leader says that FBI officials told him Monday that the allegations are part of an active investigation.
