It’s only been a few weeks since Fox News settled with Dominion voting systems on a defamation lawsuit brought on the network by Dominion, which subsequently led to the ousting of top Fox primetime host Tucker Carlson. The financial settlement was one of the largest in history at $787.5 million, which allowed Fox to exclude executives and on-air talent from testifying. The complaint had focused on Fox’s broadcast of false claims of a stolen election in the weeks following former President Donald Trump’s 2020 loss.
Now the conservative news network is facing a new defamation lawsuit.
According to The New York Times, “the suit, brought by a specialist in Russian disinformation, cites parallels with the recently settled Dominion Voting Systems case against Fox.”
Nina Jankowicz was the executive director of the Department of Homeland Security’s now-defunct Disinformation Governance Board, sometimes known as the “Ministry of Truth.”
Over the previous five years, Jankowicz has been largely incorrect.

The suit filed this week on behalf of Jankowicz alleges that “the network promoted lies about her that generated serious threats to her safety and harmed her career prospects,” the NY Times reported.
The article added that “Right-wing pundits and politicians falsely portrayed her group as part of an Orwellian bid to control the speech and thought of ordinary Americans.” Tucker Carlson, Maria Bartiromo and Sean Hannity, were cited in particular as making among the “300 mentions over eight months on Fox last year” where Jankowicz “was repeatedly demeaned and defamed in highly personal language,” according to the lawsuit.
The aforementioned Fox News hosts were cited as disparaging Jankowicz by saying her job was “to silence anyone who criticizes the Biden administration” and possibly even, as Mr. Carlson warned, “get men with guns to tell you to shut up.”
Jankowicz alleges that she has to resign from the Disinformation Governance Board to escape the deluge of criticism spearheaded by Fox News, and that the network’s hosts and their guests falsely claimed she was fired.
“Even after achieving their stated goal of driving me out of government and ending the board, they kept using me as a punching bag,” Ms. Jankowicz said in an interview on Wednesday. “It shouldn’t be something we just accept — that the most powerful cable network in the world can attack individuals willy-nilly and not face any consequences after they ruin their lives.”
The same Delaware state court system that Dominion Voting used to bring its $1.6 billion defamation case against Fox News is where Ms. Jankowicz, 34, filed her lawsuit. Last month, the network reached a settlement in that dispute for $787.5 million, averting a drawn-out and contentious trial. (The Jankowicz lawsuit asks for undisclosed compensation.)
