Journalist Trey Yingst, 30, has been elevated to chief foreign correspondent less than a year after he witnessed the terrible aftermath of the Hamas bombings in southern Israel. Yingst, who covered the terrifying events for Fox News in October of last year, achieved a major career milestone with the statement made by Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott on Tuesday.

In a staff message announcing Trey Yingst’s recent promotion, Scott commended him and emphasized his vital role in the network’s international coverage. “During major breaking news in every corner of the world, Trey has been the eyes and ears on the ground for our viewers since 2018,” Scott said according to The Hill. “Trey’s indefatigable work ethic and dedication in multiple war zones has made him an incredible asset to Fox News and we are extremely proud of his first-class journalism.”

Yingst was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and her love for journalism began at a young age. While attending American University, he co-founded News2Share, which developed into a platform for frontline citizen journalism and the influence of unadulterated, unfiltered news.

When he became a foreign correspondent for Fox News in 2018, his career took a big turn. His reporting from the center of conflict zones and places affected by severe political unrest rapidly helped him establish a reputation. His missions have carried him all across the Middle East, including Ukraine where he reported on the Russian invasion and Israel, where he covered the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Additionally, Yingst’s upcoming book will provide an engrossing first-hand narrative of the devastating terrorist attack on Israel on October 7. In the pandemonium that followed Hamas’s devastating attack, he started writing “Black Saturday: An Unfiltered Account of the October 7th Attack on Israel and the War in Gaza.” He was simultaneously providing live information from Gaza and southern Israel for Fox News throughout this time.

As a journalist who was there and actively involved in the events, Yingst feels his book provides a unique viewpoint because it was written by someone who was “living this story” as it was happening. “‘Black Saturday’ is the gold standard in storytelling when it comes to what took place on October 7 in southern Israel and the war that followed,” Yingst told Fox News. The book releases on Oct. 1.

“A massacre against the civilian population of Israel unfolded in the early hours of October 7, when Hamas militants crossed the border from the Gaza Strip into the communities that line Gaza in southern Israel, and it killed soldiers and civilians alike and dragged more than 240 hostages back into Gaza,” he said. “‘Black Saturday’ talks about our experience, the Fox News team in Jerusalem responding to that attack.”

“‘Black Saturday’ tells that story, and then the stories of the soldiers and the police officers and the civilians in southern Israel who were trying to make sense of what was unfolding, and then take the fight back to Hamas inside Gaza, along with the stories of Palestinian civilians who were directly affected by this conflict and continue to be affected today,” Yingst continued.
