Sean Hannity, a well-established broadcaster on Fox News, has followed the trend of conservatives who are leaving Democratic strongholds in search of regions with more freedom and lower taxes.

The veteran Fox News anchor declared on his SiriusXM show Tuesday that he is “finished” with New York and will soon relocate to the conservative stronghold of Florida, where prominent Republicans such as Governor Ron DeSantis and U.S. Senators Rick Scott (R-FL) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) closely align with his principles.

“I’ve been threatening now to do this for quite a while, but we are now beginning our first broadcast from my new home and that is in the free state of Florida,” he said on his iHeartRadio show on Tuesday. “I am out. I am done. I’m finished.”

According to The Hill, Hannity is now more content with his choice to depart from New York City due to the introduction of new taxes by Democratic officials such as Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul. In contrast, Florida has implemented tax reductions in recent years and does not impose a state tax on personal income.

“And finally for the first time that I can think of in my adult life, I actually have representatives in the state that I’m living in that share my values,” Hannity said.

“And if anything, I’m probably late and behind the curve and many others have made the move beforehand and there’s not a single person that I know, that made a move like this that is not happy that they’ve made it,” he said.

One of the reasons the 27-year Fox veteran mentioned for migrating is the presence of heavy regulation, high crime rates, and poor school systems in deep-blue states, which are causing Americans to leave. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, during the period from 2021 to 2022, the states of Illinois, California, and New York, which are known for their strong support of the Democratic party, had a decline in population exceeding 100,000 individuals each. In 2023, California, known for having the highest sales and income taxes in the nation, saw a net loss of almost 75,000 citizens.

According to Fox, Florida experienced an increase of approximately 1.1 million population between 2020 and 2023.

Additional conservatives who have relocated to Florida include pundits Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro, as well as prominent Republican contributors such as businessmen Ken Griffin and Oracle founder Jeffrey Henry.

“It’s like Washington with palm trees,” said GOP consultant Ryan Williams told the Wall Street Journal.

Given Florida’s status as a hub of conservative movement, it is anticipated that Hannity would frequently invite visitors to his new studio. Notably, recent appearances by Vivek Ramaswamy and former President Donald Trump, who is now a permanent resident of Florida, are likely to be repeated.
