As former president Donald Trump arrived at the third annual Formula One Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, he was greeted with thunderous cries of “USA.”

Enormous groups of supporters lined up on both sides of the road as the former president’s convoy approached Hard Rock Stadium. A number of police officers also greeted him warmly, waving and giving him the thumbs up as the convoy went by.

The former president went through the tunnels and into the concourse after his security detail arrived at the stadium. As Trump came, fans and supporters flocked to the entryway, yelling “USA” and cheering.

The audience exploded into significantly louder chants of “USA” as soon as Trump stepped on the track, continuing the effusive reaction. The Republican nominee was seen clutching a MAGA hat in his right hand and waving to the crowd

For security considerations, Tom Garfinkel, the CEO of the Miami Dolphins and managing general partner of the F1 Miami Grand Prix, refrained from revealing that Trump will be present at the race.

“I’m not allowed to disclose the attendees for security and privacy reasons,” Garfinkel said. “We don’t talk about communications with people, but I will say that there won’t be any fundraisers at the event.”

A little respite from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s “hush money” trial was given by the event. Biden contributor Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the case, has ordered Trump to attend each day of the trial.

Trump has been to several athletic events since he left the White House. He has started to appear frequently at UFC pay-per-view events and has also gone to several college football games; his most recent appearance was this past fall during the rivalry game between South Carolina and Clemson.
