On May 25, former president Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at the Libertarian National Party during their convention. Trump’s impending participation is seen by the Libertarian Party as a significant success because the party has frequently failed to place its candidates on the main stage among major party contenders.

To sway Trump’s policy beliefs, the Libertarian Party is going to give him a list of their top ten issues before his address. The exchange is viewed as an opportunity to close ideological divides and start a conversation that could change the course of politics.

“Libertarians are some of the most independent and thoughtful thinkers in our Country, and I am honored to join them in Washington, DC, later this month,” Trump said. “We must all work together to help advance freedom and liberty for every American, and a second Trump Administration will achieve that goal. I look forward to speaking at the Libertarian Event, which will be attended by many of my great friends.”

“We all have to remember that our goal is to defeat the Worst President in the History of the United States, BY FAR, Crooked Joe Biden. If Libertarians join me and the Republican Party, where we have many Libertarian views, the election won’t even be close. We cannot have another four years of death, destruction, and incompetence. WE WILL WORK TOGETHER AND WIN!”

“Become Ungovernable” is the theme of the Libertarian National Convention this year. The party’s opposition to recent acts by the federal and state governments that they view as dictatorial is reflected in the theme.

Jo Jorgensen, the Libertarian Party’s presidential candidate in the 2020 U.S. election, won nearly 1.1 million votes, or 1.2% of all votes cast. Although it was less than the results in 2016, when the Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson received over 4.4 million votes, or roughly 3.3% of the total, the amount was still the third-highest in the party’s history.

While acknowledging that it is not unusual for someone to contest election results, the chairwoman of the Libertarian National Committee criticized the prosecution of the former president Trump in August for his alleged attempts to void the results of the 2020 election.

“Many past candidates, including presidential nominee Al Gore, and Hillary Clinton who, in 2016, called Trump an ‘illegitimate President’ who ‘stole the election,’ have routinely refused to concede elections and forced tedious recounts involving Supreme Court decisions,” Angela McArdle said in a statement.

“For 50 years, we’ve been trying to get our candidates on the main stage with major party POTUS candidates and we’ve finally succeeded in bringing one to our stage,” McArdle stated today. “We will do everything in our power to use this incredible opportunity to advance the message of liberty.”

According to the most recent national surveys as of May 1, Trump leads with 41.6% of the vote, closely followed by President Joe Biden with 40.8%. This is the presidential election of 2024. 10.3% is Robert Kennedy Jr.’s deficit. It’s possible that RFK Jr., an independent, will be on the ballot in almost every state this year.
