Former President Donald Trump appeared cheerful ahead of the fourth day of his Manhattan hush money trial, wishing his wife Melania a very happy birthday from almost 1,200 miles away.

The Republican gave the customary stop in front of the media outside the courtroom and spoke to the group for almost two minutes, wishing the former first lady a happy birthday first.

“I wanna start by wishing my wife Melania a very happy birthday. It would be be nice to be with her, but I’m at a courthouse for a rigged trial,” said Trump as he shook his head. “But we’re doing very well in this rigged trial, and everybody knows it.”

“Yesterday was a big day, but I do have to begin by wishing Melania happy birthday. She’s in Florida. I’ll be going there this evening after this case finishes up,” he added.

Melania Trump has mirrored President Trump’s assessment of his trial, calling it a “disgrace” and comparing it to “election interference,” as reported by Newsweek.

Melania, 54, has openly and informally backed Trump’s presidential campaign as an extension of her husband. She helped generate almost $1 million at a fundraiser held at Mar-a-Lago last week with the Log Cabin Republicans, and two weeks earlier, she stole the stage at a ceremony honoring Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán with a reception. She has also given the former president suggestions regarding potential running mates.

At home, Trump’s associates attribute Melania to being his “secret weapon,” a stabilizing force in his leadership. She demands that he avoid watching too much TV news and that he eat breakfast with her and their son Barron. One insider claimed that during a “hellish” time, Trump has remained “calm and focused” because of the steadiness.

“Friends whisper these last few weeks have been hard on Trump, and although he always presents a tough front, these constant legal assaults are affecting his day-to-day life,” said one source close to the power couple. “Melania’s even better than his regular golf games at keeping his temper in check. She provides a peaceful life for him when he needs it.”

President Trump gave Melania back support in January following the passing of her mother Amalija Knavs. Later that month, she spoke at the matriarch’s funeral as a eulogist.

“Her nurturing spirit had no limits, creating a legacy that will last for generations,” she said of the love her mother had for her grandson, Baron, “illuminating his world with love, tender care, and unwavering devotion.”

Survey data confirms reports that Melania is a strong Trump supporter while he is in the campaign. The former first lady is currently viewed more favorably by voters than Jill Biden.
