A heartfelt moment was shared by former President Donald Trump with his grandchildren on stage at a rally on Saturday in North Carolina, a crucial swing state.
In the middle of the rally, Trump addressed a sizable gathering of fans in Wilmington and invited his two grandchildren, Luke and Carolina, to the platform. The children of Eric and RNC co-chair Lara Trump are Luke and Carolina.
“We also have a very important member of my family. Far more important than Eric or Lara,” Trump joked. “And her name is Carolina.”
“And she’s beautiful and she’s sweet and she doesn’t know how evil life is,” he added. “Can I ask Carolina to come up? Is that possible?” After that, Trump turned around on stage and came out a little while later holding his five-year-old granddaughter.
Carolina then gave a brief speech to the assembly, urging them to “Make America Great Again” based on her grandfather’s instructions.
The former president, who gave his granddaughter a congrats on her leave from the platform, thought the message was well received by the audience as well.
Shortly after, Trump gave Luke an introduction and then asked him to come on stage. “Would anybody like to meet Luke? Her brother? Luke, come on up,” he said while motioning to his seven-year-old grandson.
“Vote for grandpa!” Luke cried out, eliciting raucous cheers and ovation from the crowd once more.
While exiting the stage, the seven-year-old idled at the top of the steps for a brief moment. “Oh, he doesn’t want to get off the stage,” Trump joked. Oh, wow. Look at that. He’s got the gene.”
The former president further revealed that he told his grandson to say something else. “I said, ‘say, MAGA.’ He said, ‘Vote for Grandpa’ He didn’t care what I said,” the Republican nominee said. “And that was actually much better, right? Thanks Luke.”
