The eldest granddaughter of former President Donald Trump has committed herself to a major sport that will undoubtedly make her family proud, and she will be heading off to college soon.

Although Kai is just starting her junior year of high school at the Benjamin School, a private day school in Palm Beach, Florida, she has already committed to playing Division I golf at the University of Miami, according to a Sunday announcement from her parents, Donald Trump, Jr. and Vanessa.

According to The Daily Mail, Kai revealed the information on her Instagram page, thanking her parents for encouraging her desire to play at a high level. “I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point,” she wrote, including photos from a recent campus visit.

The 17-year-old is still relatively close to the Trump family. Being a passionate golfer, President Trump even went to the course the day following an attempt on his life earlier this month.

At the former president’s Florida golf course, she has won the women’ club championship, and she attributes her love of golf to “Grandpa” Trump. She continued, “I want to thank my grandpa for providing me with amazing opportunities and unwavering support.”

“I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support,” she added. “I would also like to thank my entire family for always encouraging and pushing me to be the best person I can possibly be. I would like to thank my friends for always cheering me on. Last but not least I would love to thank Coach Janice and Coach Jim for giving me this opportunity. I am supper excited to be a cane and represent the University of Miami. Gooo Canes!”

Although Kai and her grandfather have a friendly rivalry on the golf course, she acknowledges that he still wins most of their outings.

The rising junior gained notoriety when she brought President Trump’s family into the public eye while accepting his third presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in July. Kai claimed in a video that she and YouTuber Grant Horvat played with last month that Kai’s granddad somehow wins their games.“I watched half of it (the DeChambeau video) because I was working out. It was awesome. It was crazy. Genuinely, he always gives me a run for my money. It’s pretty close. It’s never really like game over and I’ve won on the 15th hole. He wins a lot of the time. I do have to say that. I’ve got to get better,” she tells a videographer who captured the moment.

Along with participating as partners, the two have also participated in the LIV Golf Tournament Pro-Am division at Trump’s Doral, Florida course.

Along with Uncle Eric Trump, Sergio Garcia, US PGA Champion Brooks Koepka, and a revolving group of Secret Service operatives surrounding the president, she has also played alongside them. Her ability to drive over 260 yards every drive, with a high of 275, enabled her advance to the captaincy of her high school team.

Charlie, the son of Tiger Woods, plays on the boys’ team at the Benjamin School as well. She expressed her gratitude to her sponsor, Callaway future, for assisting her in becoming “the next generation of Callaway Tour Pros.”
