According to the Cypriot website Philenews, Israeli scientist Gal Luft has vanished in Cyprus after being granted bail by a court in Larnaca and is wanted by US authorities for trading in weapons.

After Interpol issued an arrest warrant for Luft on the grounds that he may have been involved in the trafficking of weapons to China and Libya, Luft was taken into custody at Larnaca International Airport in southern Cyprus. Then, he was scheduled for extradition to the US.

The Larnaca District Court ordered him to pay €150,000 as a guarantee, to put up another €250,000 with a guarantor, and to present himself at the Paphos central police station on a regular basis. He was then freed while the court considered the US extradition request.

Luft failed to show up as required on March 28 at the Paphos police station. The same day, Luft was listed as missing by his attorney, who also expressed concern about his client’s safety.

A day later, Luft’s abandoned car was found, and according to sources cited by Philenews, Cypriot police are now exploring the possibility that Luft has departed the country entirely.

The €400,000 Luft put up as a guarantee has been put on hold since he missed his court appointment on April 3.

According to the Cyprus Mail, the Larnaca police spokesperson Haris Hadjiyiasemi said that a new European and international arrest warrant has been issued against him.

In response to the allegations, Luft asserted that he had “never been an arms dealer” and that the US Justice Department was “trying to bury me to protect [US President Joe] Biden” and his family.

According to its website, the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security (IAGS), a think tank concentrating on energy, security, and economic trends, is co-directed by author and energy security and diplomatic expert Luft.

He has previously made public criticisms of both American foreign policy and the Biden administration as a whole. Luft charged that the Biden administration’s “commitment to democracy going only as far as its interests allow” at a gathering in Beijing in 2021 called “International Forum on Democracy: the Shared Human Values.”

Before the alleged arms deals, Gal Luft was a co-director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, according to his LinkedIn profile. John Hopkins University in Maryland awarded him a PhD in philosophy, and in 2011 he went on to become a Senior Advisor at the US Energy Security Council.

In addition, he held the positions of Chairman of International Privacy Machines and Adjunct Professor at OSTIM in Turkey.

Luft, according to Ynet News, was especially critical of the Biden administration, charging that the President and his cabinet members were acting in their own self-interests and in an anti-democratic manner. He belonged to a think tank with various officials and former US agents, according to Intelligence Online.

The Biden administration is pursuing the accused arms dealer because he allegedly offered damaging evidence against Hunter Biden in a corruption case, according to Gal Luft’s lawyer, Mordechai Tzivin. According to reports, the latter is being looked at for possible tax fraud. Since 2018, the case has been ongoing. Tzivin continued

“The arrest came four years after Luft cooperated with FBI and Department of Justice investigators to help them with information about the case.”

According to Tzivin, Luft might destroy Hunter Biden’s career if he is permitted to testify. In response, he asserted that the Biden administration is only making accusations to discredit him:

“If it were Russia, this would’ve already been a diplomatic collision (…) it’s not unreasonable to think that the Democrats or some of their peers would like him gone. His testimony will be very devastating, it will divert attention to the president himself as well.”

Tzivin went on to say that he is especially concerned about the potential extradition since he does not have faith in the US authorities to keep Luft safe. He said he might be in physical danger because it is rumored that the President is seeking Luft.

Interpol and US authorities still don’t know where Luft is right now.

Earlier in April, in connection with Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings while his father was vice president, a former Obama administration staffer claimed that President Biden participated in a “kickback scheme.”

“Fox & Friends First” reported that former White House stenographer Mike McCormick said the FBI has ignored his alarms despite his desire to testify under oath before an investigating grand jury.

“In February, I went to the FBI and filed one of their tips on their website. If you do that, and you’re lying to them, you go to jail. I’m not lying. I’m telling the truth, and I’m not going to jail,” McCormick declared on Thursday. “Joe Biden is a criminal. He was conducting malfeasance in office to enrich his family. Jake Sullivan is a conspirator in that, and there’s more… Obama officials involved in it, I believe.”

From 2011 to 2017, McCormick worked with Biden and detailed a key dialogue between the vice president, his aide Jake Sullivan, and the press before a trip to Kyiv, Ukraine, in April 2014.
